New High Performance Electret Condenser Microphone (ECM) Pre-Amplifiers for High Performance Audio Applications Sunnyvale, CA, August 27, 2008 – ASIC Advantage, Inc. announces the first in a series of new amplifier products for the portable audio market, the AAP572X ECM Pre-Amplifier. These products were designed for the recent exclusive use of Plantronics, Inc. of Santa Cruz, CA for high end audio headset microphone applications; the AAP572X is now available for general sale to the audio microphone marketplace. The performance of this Pre-Amplifier is such that it enables design of enhanced end system products, due to its various gain options, ultra-low noise and other high performance features. The AAP572X ECM Pre-Amplifier provides a number of performance advantages over prior ECM Pre-Amplifier products. Key features include ultra low input capacitance (1pF typical) and quiescent current (270µA typical), with ultra low equivalent input noise (2 to 2.65 µV RMS, A-Weighted, with the microphone capacitor short circuited, gain version dependent). Additionally, the Pre-Amplifier sports a high pass filter with operation down to 1.45V. Other key features include THD performance below 1% maximum, output impedance of 25Ω typical, with exceptionally high tolerance to RF interference and ESD tolerance (8kV). The AAP572X is offered with three gain options, 14dB, 19.5dB and 26dB. Packaging is bumped chip scale SMD configuration, with a size of 1.09mm x 1.12mm and an overall thickness of 350µm (including solder bumps). Optimum for 3mm microphones, the die is RoHS compliant, with lead free solder pads of 118µm diameter. Packing styles available are 2” x 2” Waffle Pack with 400 units per pack, or Tape and Reel with 3500 units/reel. Pricing for a Tape and Reel quantity of 3.5k pieces is $0.46, with lower pricing available for high volume production. An evaluation board, the AAEVB572X, is available for $59. (Note that X is replace with a letter used to denote the specific gain version of interest A – 14dB, B – 19.5dB and C – 26dB).
