Zero-Voltage Switching Boundary Mode PFC LED Controller

The AAL416A and AAL416B are active PFC LED controllers with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) optimized to be used in AAI’s (patent pending) boundary-mode coupled inductor boost topology. Drive LEDs directly from the PFC stage or in a multiple stage topology.

AAI’s boundary-mode coupled inductor boost topology plus zero voltage switching allows systems to attain efficiencies of ~90%+. The AAL416A is a ZVS boundary-mode controller, while the AAL416B includes provisions for phase-cut sensing/dimming control.
