PRELIMINARY MEMS Microphone Pre-Driver The AAP249X MEMS Digital Pre Amplifiers are part of an expanding line of mobile audio amplifiers offered by ASIC Advantage, Inc. The core of the design includes the same Pre-Amplifier technology that was designed in co-operation with Plantronics, Inc. of Santa Cruz, CA for their audio headset products, with industry leading SNR and THD performance, as well as robust ESD protection and low output impedance. The AAP249X is a digital realization of our core ECM Pre-Amplifier products, created by the inclusion of a 4th Order Sigma Delta ADC in conjunction with a charge pump with bias circuitry for MEMS devices. The ADC has a 20kHz signal bandwidth, with a PDM bit stream output and can run with a clock frequency of 1MHz to 4MHz. The single-bit modulator features an inherently linear output, as well as enabling noise shaping and shifting of quantization noise. The combination of AAI’s high performance Pre-Amplifier and ADC yields ultra-low noise performance, < 4.5µV RMS (typ.). The design also offers excellent RFI and EMI immunity. The AAP249X is offered in 12.5dB, 14dB, and 16dB gain versions with bias voltages of 5V, 8V, 10V, and 12V available. Other features include ultra-low input capacitance and low quiescent current in sleep mode. Sleep mode is automatically detected by the clock frequency falling below 1MHz. Additionally, the AAP249X is configured to be compatible with stereo-audio applications, with provision of a Left or Right channel select. The AAP249X is offered in an RoHS compliant chip-scale 7-Pin Micro SMD, 1400 x 850 µm, with thickness of 350µm maximum (including solder bumps). Features
