Standard Radiation Tolerant 8-Channel Source Drivers featuring Over-Current Protection and Thermal Shutdown Sunnyvale, CA, January 3, 2011 – ASIC Advantage, Inc. (AAI) announces the release of two new standard 8-channel source drivers for Radiation-Tolerant applications, the AAHS298A and AAHS298B. Designed and manufactured with a commercial process using AAI’s proprietary library, these products provide radiation tolerance to 200kRad(Si) as well as immunity to SEE and latch-up. These products were designed to enable AAI to efficiently meet the needs of our military and aerospace customers with such requirements. AAHS298A and AAHS298B drivers provide in excess of 700mA of output source current for each output channel and can withstand voltages up to 80V. Each of the eight logic inputs is compatible with TTL, 5V, and 12V logic systems, allowing them to interface with relays, motors, solenoids, and other loads. Internal thermal shutdown protection is a standard feature designed into both drivers, while the AAHS298A offers an additional over-current protection feature for each of the eight non-inverting channels. The thermal shutdown is intended to protect against over-current and soft short occurrences, while the over-current protection is aimed at disabling the channel in the case of a hard fault to ground. The AAHS298A is offered in both a 20 and 28 pin ceramic SOIC, and the AAHS298B is offered in both a 20 and 24 pin ceramic SOIC. Packaged devices can be screened to either Class S or Class B levels. Both devices are also offered in die form screened to Class S levels, delivered in waffle pack. All of these products are rated for use across the full military temperature range, from -55ºC to +125ºC.
