SUNNYVALE, California – August 17, 2005 – ASIC Advantage, Inc., today announces the availability of the ASIC Advantage IN-PLUG IPS18 Flyback Controller, the industry’s most advanced power solution to address power saving regulation requirements. The ASIC Advantage IPS18 Flyback Controller is the first member of a new line of IN-PLUG “Ultra-Green” energy saving ICs. No more compromise. ASIC Advantage is an innovative company in power management covering Flyback, Feedback, PFC, Push-Pull and other switch mode control ICs. The ASIC Advantage IPS18 revolutionizes power conversion of SMPS to reduce standby power consumption. It tackles “energy wastage” in critical energy consuming areas of unloaded, lightly loaded and overloaded power supplies. “AAI’s motivation in initiating alternate solutions to inefficient linear and switching market ICs” says Pierre Irissou, president of ASIC Advantage Inc., “ is founded on our clear understanding that wasted power is duplicated into millions of devices including computers, televisions, office copiers, stereo components, and chargers, resulting in large electricity bills and environmental concerns. In extending the IN-PLUG family to ULTRA-GREEN Power Saving controllers, AAI not only offers SMPS manufacturers the most inexpensive tools to meet worldwide regulations but also to eradicate “energy wastage”.” The ASIC Advantage IPS18 Flyback controller dramatically reduces power consumption in no load and short-circuit conditions. For example, at 120 VAC, our demo 45W power supply consumes a mere 30mW when unloaded, whereas competitors are currently above 200mW. In short-circuit conditions, the same 45W power supply only draws 100mW from the line as a result of the hiccup feature. This is achieved with no extra components and no sensing losses. The ASIC Advantage IPS18 Flyback controller is available in small outline integrated circuit SOIC-8 and DIP-8 Pb-free / ROHS packages or conventional packaging. Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO, priced at $0.20 (US$) each in 10K quantities and at $0.16 (US$) each in 100K quantities. A demonstration kit, IPS-DK18, is also available and can be purchased for $25.
