ROHS / Lead-free Components...
European Union Directive
ASIC Advantage Inc. provides ROHS/Lead-free components compliant with the European Union Directive, for the “ Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment” by July 1, 2006. The directive bans the following materials:
Lead (Pb)
Mercury (Hg)
Cadmium (Cd)
Hexavalent Chromium
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
Poly brominated Diphenyl Ethers (PDBE)
AAI's Product Compliance
AAI’s product compliance means compatibility with the current RoHS requirements for all six substances, including the requirements that lead not exceed 0.1% by weight in homogenous material. AAI’s part numbering and package marking system makes the distinction between the “Green” part and the “Lead-free” part of the RoHS compliance. The customers may order parts with lead-free solder or “Green” separately. The parts are marked –LF for the Lead-Free case and Green parts are marked –G. RoHS compliant parts (both green and lead-free, typically plastic parts) are marked –G-LF.
AAI defines the green packaging to be compliant by using Green mold compounds where the previously mentioned materials and the bromine and antimony compounds from the flame retardants have been removed.
Certificate of Conformance
AAI has selected assembly and packaging suppliers with capabilities of meeting the ROHS directive and has put in place procedures of inspection and reporting to guarantee the product compliance. A certificate of conformance is provided by Asic Advantage when parts with ROHS/Lead-free material are delivered.
